This app can be used at home after a session at a speech therapist. This app provides feedback when the user talks too high or too low or when they are talking too softly. The interface includes a moving circles which moves up and down according to the frequency of the speech. It will also increase in size when the user talks louder. The settings can be adjusted according to the user's needs. We advise to set the settings in in consultation with the speech therapist.Disclaimer
The Voice trainer, with one dot on the screen, provides real time visual feedback on both loudness and pitch of the voice of the user. Loudness and pitch are the main determinants of good voice quality and the effort that is needed to produce it. This app is designed as a training tool for people who struggle to produce a good voice with intelligible speech in everyday conversation or with sufficient loudness in open spaces.Professional speakers or people with a neurological speech disorder (e.g. Parkinson’s disease) are advised to first check with a speech-language therapist what the optimal loudness and pitch should be and how to apply the app in exercise and daily functioning.
UseThrough 'Settings' the desired pitch and loudness can be set. The Voice trainer then gives with one dot feedback on the most effective use of your voice:- A green (large) dot means that you speak loud enough; a red (small) dot indicates that you speak too soft.- The dot moving around the middle of the screen indicates that you speak at the right pitch. You speak at a too high pitch when the dot is mainly at the top of the screen and you pitch is too low when the dot is mainly on the bottom of the screen .To keep intonation patterns visible and let the dot move calmly, the pitch range should be set a 50 Hz.
(Because the loudness and pitch displayed on the screen depends on the distance between the speaker and the device and the quality of the device, the setting values may differ slightly from those of calibrated equipment.)
